Pretty Little Industries Ltd. has been creating handcrafted products for customers across Western Canada for more than 35 years.
My journey began in 1989 as a floral designer, selling at local farmers' markets and community events. What started as a creative passion gradually grew into a business that expanded into regional craft shows, wholesale accounts, manufacturing, and eventually our own retail storefront.
Over the years, I have worn just about every hat imaginable. Product developer, manufacturer, buyer, marketer, shipper, bookkeeper ( my accounting background finally came in handy!) salesperson, janitor—and everything in between. If you've ever owned a small business, you know exactly what I mean.
In the early 2000s, I added handcrafted soy candles to my product line and quickly became known to many customers as the "Pretty Little Candle Lady." The nickname stuck for years and still makes me smile today.
As the business continued to grow, so did my product offerings. What began with candles eventually expanded into handcrafted soaps, bath and body products, and a carefully curated collection of products that reflect the same commitment to quality and craftsmanship that has guided me from the beginning.
My products have been featured on Global News in both Calgary and Edmonton, on CFRN Edmonton, and on HELP TV. While those opportunities were exciting, the recognition I value most is the loyalty of customers who continue to support my business year after year.
In 2014, my husband joined the business full time, bringing his own strengths and helping us continue to grow. What began as a one-woman operation gradually evolved into a true family business.
In 2020, we opened our retail storefront, allowing us to connect with customers in a whole new way while continuing the wholesale and event business that helped build our company.
Today, Pretty Little Industries Ltd. continues to manufacture our own soy candles, soaps, bath and body products while also supporting Canadian makers through our retail store. We remain committed to quality, creativity, and providing products that our customers are proud to bring into their homes or give as gifts.
After more than three decades, I still love what I do.
I still get excited about new product ideas.
And I am still incredibly grateful for every customer who chooses to support a small Canadian family business.
